Development and formative evaluation of a tele-medical aftercare program for obese patients (Tele-medical Franconian Obesity Aftercare Therapy) – Tele-FANT
Objectives
Obese patients often do not succeed in continuing long-term behavior changes initiated during medical rehabilitation. The aim of the Tele-FANT study is the development and formative evaluation (testing of feasibility and concept optimization) of a practical online-supported aftercare program for obese patients (BMI≥30).
Methods
A 12-month telemedical aftercare is intended to support obese patients in maintaining and further improving the weight reduction. Approximately 45 obese rehabilitation patients at the Frankenlandklinik rehabilitation center in Bad Windsheim are to be included. Data are collected at the start of rehabilitation, at the end of rehabilitation and 4, 8 and 12 months after inpatient rehabilitation. In addition to the objective percentage weight loss, BMI, physical activity, and quality of life are also recorded. Furthermore, interviews are conducted with participants and the aftercare therapist regarding their satisfaction with the intervention.
