Peer review procedure in the social medical assessment of applications for reduced earning capacity pensions - scientific evaluation - PeerS
Training courses and workshops on the peer review process - PeerS
Background
External quality assurance for socio-medical assessments in statutory pension insurance is carried out across all regional German Pension Insurance institutions. The main element is a peer review process in which experienced social medical experts (peers) evaluate social medical assessments based on defined quality criteria.
Methods
Annual inter-agency workshops are held to calibrate the procedure. Around 60 social medicine specialists who are actively involved as peers attend the workshop. Its aim is to ensure a comparable assessment standard. In addition, around 10 new peers are trained in the procedure each year.
