Areas of research

The interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Sciences working group is dedicated to empirical basic and applied research as well as health services research in the field of medical rehabilitation and related topics.

The working group emerged from the corresponding research focus within the former Institute/Department of Medical Psychology. It has carried out a large number of research projects on rehabilitation science issues, but also on quality assurance and other health science issues. A considerable amount of third party funding was acquired.

There is close cooperation with the clinics of the Faculty of Medicine, with many health and care facilities in the region, statutory pension insurance providers, health insurance companies and statutory accident insurance providers/occupational accident insurance associations as well as national and international scientific institutions.

Topics of research activities include patient education, new intervention approaches in rehabilitation and their implementation, health literacy and patient information. Social/insurance medicine and quality assurance are further research topics of the working group, as are institutional healthcare and continuity of care.

Since 1995, the working group has been organizing the Rehabilitation Science Seminar as a lecture series during the lecture period, which is aimed equally at students, researchers and practitioners in cooperation with

  • Institute of Psychology (I), Intervention Psychology, University of Würzburg,
  • German Pension Insurance North Bavaria (DRV Nordbayern)
  • Bavarian Rehabilitation Research Network (NRFB) and
  • Faculty of Applied Social Sciences, Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences (THWS).

In the lectures, the current state of research on selected topics in rehabilitation research and social medicine is presented and discussed.

You can find the current dates in the calender of events.
