Practical Activity II (“Psychosomatics”) with a scope of 600 hours can also be completed in the clinic as an institution for psychotherapeutic/psychosomatic care recognized by the social insurance provider.

The practical work of a total of 1800 hours to gain practical experience in the treatment of mental disorders can therefore be completed in full at our clinic.

The Clinic and Polyclinic for Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy at the University Hospital of Würzburg has cooperation agreements with the following training institutes for this purpose:

  • Continuing education program
  • Psychological Psychotherapy at the University of Würzburg (WAPP), Würzburg

  • Würzburg Institute for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy (WIPP), Würzburg
  • Center for Education and Training in Psychological Psychotherapy (ZAP), Erlangen
  • Training Academy of the German Society for Behavioral Therapy (DGVT), Munich

Our concept provides for the joint completion of PT I and PT II at our clinic. The clinic offers 10 internships per year for this purpose. During this time, the 1800 hours are completed full-time. The internship is remunerated. The starting dates are determined by the internship positions that become available.

At the present time, we do not offer any further training places as part of the new further training to become a specialist psychotherapist.

Contents and schedule

The work as a psychotherapist in training takes place on several wards. As a rule, there are two rotations within the year. During the practical year, you will work for at least 4 months on a ward with intensive psychotherapeutic work (practical work II).

The work is supported by numerous supervision and further training opportunities. There is weekly external supervision by an experienced licensed psychotherapist. In addition, there is at least one weekly supervision in the group by a licensed psychotherapist from the clinic.

The further training program is supplemented by scientific conferences and case presentations. In addition, the behavioral therapy seminar takes place once a week during the lecture period, in which practical basics in the treatment of the most relevant mental illnesses are taught.
