The general psychatric day care clinic

In the general psychiatric day care unit, we mainly treat patients with mental illnesses that do not require full inpatient treatment, but for whom outpatient treatment is not sufficient. In particular, we encourage patients to develop and practice individual strategies to help them cope with everyday life.

Services

With 17 treatment places, the general psychiatric day care unit offers the same range of psychiatric care that is also available during an inpatient stay. At the same time, the patient's social environment is maintained, so that the acquired knowledge can be put to immediate use. The therapy concept involves the simulation and step-by-step training of real life situations using various therapy methods, so that patients can learn and stabilise new behavioural habits and use them for immediate life management. The ultimate goal is social and job reintegration.

Conditions of admission

It is essential that the patient is able to make the journey between the clinic and his or her home independently and that a sufficiently stable social background is available.

Schedule

The daily attendance time in the general psychiatric day care unit is between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm on weekdays. The therapeutic program is structured and follows a fixed daily routine. All patients receive an individually tailored therapy concept and a weekly schedule for individual and group therapies, activities and breaks. Lunch is a group activity and is taken in the day care unit's common room.

Registration

Admission takes place upon medical referral and in consultation with us. By phone:+49 931 201-79100 an outpatient appointment is arranged before the start of treatment, during which we define therapy goals and methods and plan the actual admission to the day care clinic. Further treatment in the day care unit after an in-patient stay in our department will be organised directly at our department in mutual consultation.

Interdisciplinary therapy

The range of therapies offered consists mainly of a combination of occupational and sociotherapeutic groups. Group work is an essential element in the treatment of people with mental disorders in order to regain or develop social skills. Under the responsibility of a senior physician, the experienced team of the day care unit consists of one additional physician, three nurses, and one staff member each from the fields of social pedagogy, occupational therapy, psychology, and physiotherapy.
