- Strengthening and improvement of clinical research by a close cooperation between clinical research and biomedical basic research through
- Advancement of interdisciplinary research projects in the fields of Inflammation & Infection, Cancer, Tissue Engineering & Transplantation, Cardiovascular Research, Imaging and Neurology
- Support of scientific careers of young physicians through IZKF-research groups, a “first-applicant“– program for first project proposals, rotational positions and MD/PhD-scholarships
- Improvement of the on-site scientific infrastructure by centrally organized service platforms
- Advancement of the competitive capability through evaluation
